Rotterdam-based photographer Ari Versluis and profiler Ellie Uyttenbroek have worked together since 1994, registering various social groups in similar poses and modes of dress in an identical framework, calling their endeavor Exactitudes®. Their site explains: By doing this, "they provide an almost scientific, anthropological record of people’s attempts to distinguish themselves from others by assuming a group identity." It's a lot to think about, eh?
I have to say, even though I'm no stranger to projects of this vein, I was surprised by the variety of groups and the similarities between the members of each group, knowing that for the dozen representatives pictured for this project, there are hundreds or thousands more walking the world streets. Take a minute and see if you can find your exactitude.
